The Design Milk Team

Caroline Williamson, Editorial Director

When 7-year-old Caroline made it her mission to redecorate her room weekly, build endless LEGO villages, and repeatedly paint and reconstruct Barbie’s dream house, she was either obsessive or a young design enthusiast in the making. After getting her BFA in photography from SCAD, she moved to Los Angeles and worked for a glass artist + designer, which gave her insight into all aspects of the design world. When she’s not working or on an airplane, she’s usually searching for vintage wares, doing New York Times crossword puzzles, or reworking playlists on Spotify.

Kelly Beall, Senior Editor

Kelly Beall is senior editor and art director at Design Milk. The Pittsburgh-based graphic designer and writer has had a deep love of art and design for as long as she can remember, and enjoys sharing her finds with others at designcrushblog.com. When undistracted by great art and design, she can be found making a mess in the kitchen, consuming as much information as possible, or on the couch with her five pets.

Vy Yang, Lifestyle Editor

Straying from her degree in business economics, Vy spent a summer in Italy to study art and language, only to embrace her love of design (and newfound love for espressos) when she returned home to California. Her interests revolve around discovering the latest movers and shakers in the community, finding accessible design, and implementing ways to live well and with intention. She’s usually sharing all of the above, plus snippets of life with her husband and two kids, over on @itsafterfive.

Alexa Morales, Commerce Editor

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Alexa always had a passion for art and design. After graduating with a dual B.A in English and Women’s Studies from the University of Florida, she found her footing in marketing and freelance copywriting across the beauty and arts industries. When she’s not writing about her favorite DM shop picks as commerce editor, she might be buried in a book, binging reality tv or adventuring around her city with her fiancé Alex and retired greyhound, Phoebe.

Gregory Han, Tech Editor

A Los Angeles native, Gregory’s interests fall upon the relationship between design, nature, and technology. His resume includes art director, toy designer, managing editor at Apartment Therapy, and design contributor at the New York Times’ Wirecutter, alongside appearing in other publications as diverse as Tom’s Guide, Vice Munchies, and Metropolis. You can find his most recent efforts as co-author of Creative Spaces, a book dedicated to people, homes and studios to inspire across the United States and beyond. He lives with his wife Emily and their two cats – Eames and Eero – in Mt. Washington, California, curiously investigating the entomological and mycological.

Katie Treggiden, Editor at Large

As a purpose-driven craft and design writer with almost 20 years’ experience in the creative industries, she also contributes to publications such as Viewpoint, The Guardian, Crafts Magazine, Elle Decoration and Monocle24. She has written four books, and launched, edited and published an award-winning design blog and an independent print magazine – her latest book is Weaving: Contemporary Makers on the Loom. She has recently completed a Masters in the History of Design at the University of Oxford, graduating with a distinction, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Trustee of the Leach Pottery.

Currently based in Seattle, her experience includes USA TODAY, GRAY Media and the launch of an award-winning wedding magazine. She’s a non-stop networker, multi-tasker and closet voice-over artist who cherishes every moment spent with family and friends.

Colin’s a career-long publishing pro who enjoys helping his design brand customers beat their competition through creative marketing. He’s worked at several leading industry magazines such as Hospitality Design, Healthcare Design and Metropolis. When not working with clients or traveling to trade shows, Colin enjoys CrossFit, watching his kids play soccer or bragging about Villanova basketball.

Matt Carter, Account Manager

Born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, Matt has enjoyed spending most of his life by the beach and enjoying the outdoors. A Radford University graduate in Business Marketing, Matt has spent the last five years of his professional life helping businesses streamline their businesses processes & find ways to optimize their advertising budget. When he’s not connecting with local business owners he is usually finding excuses to sneak outside to grill with his four year old daughter or hit the golf course with long time friends.

Robert Mancini, Chief Executive Officer

Born and raised in England, Robert has been lucky enough to bounce around the world for the last 25+ years while working in retail for Ralph Lauren, Alfred Dunhill, and Victoria’s Secret. Passionate about family, travel, design, and cars, when he’s not working you’ll find him hanging out with his family or fooling around with a classic car.

Lucy Spencer, Marketing Director

Originally from the UK, Lucy graduated from University of the Arts in London and went on to build her career in marketing. With over 20 years experience in international retail marketing and brand management for companies such as Disney and Victoria’s Secret, Lucy now resides in Columbus, Ohio. When not working, she loves traveling and exercising her creative side through drawing and painting.

Stephanie Jones, Finance Director

A native of Ohio, Stephanie graduated from The Ohio State University and loves living in Columbus. A CPA and Mom, she loves simplicity, structure, and balance (especially when debits = credits). You can find her chasing her husband on a 3-mile run, at her daughter’s swim meets, or at her son’s tennis tournaments. She balances by retreating to her “she cave” in the basement practicing Yoga or foam rolling. When she’s not number crunching, you might also find her trying a new recipe in her kitchen with her poodle by her side to taste test.

Kate Cain, Merchandise Director

After spending a summer in Europe during high school, Kate knew she wanted a career in merchandising. From working in stores as a teenager to graduating with a degree in merchandising and cutting her teeth at major retailers like Victoria’s Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Express, she could never get enough! When she’s not working, you can find Kate on the field watching her kids play their hearts out or on the tennis court trying to beat her husband—which never happens!

David Fournier, Operations Director

David was born and raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin and has always had a passion for helping people and working with technology. Over the last 6 years, he has been able to combine both of those passions by bridging the gap between end users and technology in system administration and IT leadership roles. When not working, studying, or hanging out with Excel, he can be found knitting, listening to audio books, or hanging out with his German Shepherd Lola and his husband.

Kelley Phillips, Systems Analyst

Kelley wakes up everyday with the belief that there is nothing that she cannot accomplish. It doesn’t matter if it’s waking up to hit the gym at 4am, whipping up baked goods for the office, or raising two headstrong children—she gives it her all. Kelley brings that can-do mentality to work, striving to make every customer’s experience as effortless as she makes it look. It’s like she always says: “Complacency is the antithesis of growth.”

Lilit Barseghyan, Social Media Manager

Lilit is a city girl at heart. Since moving to Portland from her previous home in San Francisco, she’s made it a point to explore the PNW as much as possible. When she’s not redecorating her apartment, she’s probably scrolling through social media, which has been her bread and butter for the past 6 years. Having worked in a multitude of marketing roles, she’s been happy to go back to her design roots and call Design Milk her new home.

Lauren Adams, Digital Designer

Lauren is a country girl turned city savvy. Since relocating from the cornfields of northwest Ohio to the big city of Columbus, she’s been working in print and digital design for everything from start-ups, to corporate businesses, to direct selling companies. She’s interested in design thinking, a human-centered approach to design that integrates the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success. Outside of work, she’s a taco truck connoisseur, ambidextrous lefty, plant whisperer, and Disney trivia wiz. Don’t challenge her on that last bit… she can and will destroy you.

Connor Roe, Assistant Merchant

Connor has been fortunate to live in and see a lot of the country before resettling in his hometown of Columbus, OH. With a passion for promoting makers and creatives, an eye for beautiful and functional design, and a love of connecting people he’s excited to be bringing his effort to the Design Milk team.
